Water from the
streams and rivers is purified to make it fit for domestic and industrial
usage. The 3 step process contains the following:

Filtration Unit

Filtration through
multiple filter to remove solid and all undissolved impurities. In some small
plants, bas of sand are used for this purpose.

Odor Removal Unit
|
 |
Filtered water is
passed through chambers containing granulated carbon to remove odor and
taste.

Chlorination Unit
|
 |
Filtered and odor
removed water is chlorinated (addition of Chlorine) to remove bacteria and
germs. This disinfected water is fit for human consumption.
